August is usually the most challenging month for maintaining annual bluegrass (this is the predominant species of grass on the courts) and this year is no exception. Hot and humid weather along with Mother Nature's endless quest to utilize the grass for its own uses means lots of stress on the grass. Today's pictures show some of the challenges.

Despite all of this, I will quote from the winners of today's Mother Daughter Open - "These are the best courts we've ever played on".
Nuff said.
Training hard for the GC Open - Camera crew will be arriving early afternoon Thursday - blimp (courtesy of John Connolly) arriving about 3 to take overhead shots of the play. A Madonna and Cher duet of the US and Swedish national anthems will kick off the action. The Bubba Wolf dancers will be entertaining between sets (these are the girls who didn't make it in Foxboro).
Peter Koutoujian (Sheriff of Middlesex County and club member) is providing an official motorcade from the club to Rogies for all participants.
London has nothing on this spectacle for sure.
