Longwood Wins STMA Field of the Year!

Every year the Sports Turf Managers Association awards a "Field of the Year" in different categories - baseball, football, soccer and softball. This year there was a new category - "Sporting Grounds" which includes all sports surfaces except the four above. Longwood is the first ever recipient of STMA's Sporting Grounds Field of the Year!

In October of 2008, the grounds crew decided to apply for this prestigious award. An application book was put together that included pictures, budget information, agronomic practices and two essays. The entire crew participated in the rewarding project of preparing the application. Pictured are Mike Buras, Tim Burns and Mike Andresen (STMA past President and award presenter. Mike A. is the sports turf manager for Iowa State University.)

Congratulations on the award - get more watch coyotes - get rid of those geese! They're honking so loud during our interviews we can hardly hear.

We're asking any new GM to mandate that Mike wear a tux to work - HAZMAT suits for everyone else.

See you soon guys!
