Above is what the grounds looked like on Friday April 1, 2011. Today rain was expected to start in the morning and another valuable day for renovating the clay courts was going to be ruined. Opening day is only 12 days away! The crew got out early and cleaned and spread court topdressing on three courts before the rain. Expecting to not be able to do anything on the courts today, it's a huge bonus. The crew worked really hard, knowing rain was on the way and it did start raining mid-morning. In the last two pictures you can check out Charlie's work. He is spreading topdressing unevenly to correct for wear areas in the court. This is where experience and the art of maintaining a clay court come into play.

another lovely day on the courts, I'm sure - you guys must look like the Mud Men from New Guinea at the end of each day.
Don't even think of using the men's showers on the first floor!!
Remember - only a light breakfast on Friday - leave room for the Brobdignagian (!!!) feast which will await you after a hard morning's work.
In case you forgot:
Le Menu
Poulet de citron.
Pommes de terre bourrées cuites au four.
Haricots verts avec des amandes.
A votre sante, messieurs
